The first major project in the renovation in West Hill’s owner’s home was the complete removal of the bathroom. The existing bathroom was outdated, inadequate, and in some cases improperly installed by the previous owner. Paint and paper wouldn’t fix this case and a complete gutting was required.
The floor structure was inadequate so the entire floor structure was removed in preparation for the porcelain tile floor. The walls were re-insulated and the suspended ceiling was removed. The ceiling beams were exposed at half their depth which added a welcomed visual addition to the ceiling as well as added volume to the room. All new fixtures were installed including a 4 foot shower stall. The claw foot tub was restored including the removal of the over-flow drain opening to allow for a deeper bath. Finally wainscoting was installed for durability in the bathroom.
