The addition of a third horse to the family necessitated an addition ot this two stall barn. The addition houses a third and future fourth stall. The client requested the structure at minimal cost as the budget was extremly tight. The original barn was saved from collapse several years back by a different contractor. The barn was braced internally , but done with the structure out of plumb and level so while stable, made for a challenging structure to add on to. The barn lacks a foundation and is simply resting on stones on the ground so the addition was bult the same way. This project, as you will see in the pictures provided for some geometric challenges with an out of level barn (almost 8") and a sagging roof, all to be intersected with the new level structure. The result provides for some interesting rooflines, but it all works in the end. The client requested a timber frame structure so it was built out of rough sawn hemlock 8x8 and 8x10 timbers. The rafters and siding are also rough sawn and full dimension. The roof was ABC Galvalume Metal roofing to match the exisitng roof.
